Track Biography:
The Wexford foxhounds was formed in 1810 at Slevoy castle.
Our point-to-point has been in different locations over the years including Wexford racecourse, Gowran Park and Lingstown before being moved to its current location at Moorefields in November 2011. We run two meetings a year, one in the autumn at Knockmullen House, with our spring fixture taking place in Ballinaboola on the first weekend in February.
Set in the heart of Co. Wexford the course is left handed with a circuit of one mile and three fences in the home straight providing many exciting close finishes.
It is a very fair track of two long straights with two gentle left-handed bends, there are five fences on each circuit which measures a mile a lap.
The track has produced many top class individuals including the likes of Envoi Allen who made a winning debut in the four-year-old maiden in 2018 before progressing to become a multiple Grade 1 winner. That 2018 renewal also saw Appreciate It finish third, and he has also gone on to become a multiple Grade 1 winner in his own right for Willie Mullins.

How To Get There
By Road
From New Ross– Take the N25 towards Wexford until you reach Ballinaboola. Turn left onto L8025 signposted for Old Ross at the Horse and Hound hotel. Follow the signs for the track from there.
From Enniscorthy - Take the N30 towards New Ross and continue until you reach Clonroche. Take the 1st left turn after the village and follow the signs for the track.

Our free parking is located in the centre of the course which allows racegoers to get up close to the action from the comfort of their car if the weather takes a turn for the worst.
We also provide a disability parking area with fence viewing on the home straight.
If the weather is wet we have temporary roadways laid out to help vehicles going in and out of the course.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

We have a hard working committee and many hunt supporters who volunteer their time to make delicious soups, sandwiches, cakes and buns in the catering tent located close to the parade ring.
We also have a fast food outlet that provides tasty burgers, rolls, sausages and chips.
If you would like something a little sweetener our sweet stall sells bars, confectionary and snacks.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.
No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to stay warm and dry and to bring waterproof footwear if the weather turns wet.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby village of Ballinaboola on your way to the races.

A day at Wexford hunt point-to-point races is an ideal day out for all the family set in the beautiful scenic area of Moorefields which is only a ten minutes’ drive from New Ross.
Racegoers can get close to the action in front of the winning post or at any of the three fences in the home straight. All five fences on the track can be seen from the centre of the course.
Our point-to-point is located forty minutes away from the busy harbour village of Rosslare which has many different ferries operating between England, Ireland and France making our point-to-point extremely accessible for visitors travelling to Ireland for a weekend.

It has paid to follow Wexford handlers in this contest of late as this prize has not crossed the county border since 2017. The reigning champion handler Colin Bowe was responsible for the winner last year, as has been the case in three of the past five renewals, so much interest will revolve around his three entries in this race, particularly OBLEMENKO, who will carry the colours of Walter Connors, successful in this race last year with Korkoran and in 2018 with Envoi Allen.

KING DU BRIVET had been strongly fancied for his Curraghmore debut last year, and whilst he failed to deliver on that, he did step forward to finish third at Portrush in October, behind the subsequent Leopardstown bumper winner Kovanis. Inishcorker was only beaten five lengths on his debut in Boulta which should bring him into the reckoning alongside the likes of Keystone and Wise Ways.

SHES DELIGHTED was beaten just over five lengths on her debut at Tattersalls in December and it would be no surprise to see her step up from that promising introduction with the experience under her belt. The year older Lily Milan went close in a Dromahane maiden over Christmas where the front pair pulled clear of their rivals, which would leave her as a danger alongside Whiskey Serenade. She lost all chance with a bad blunder two-out in Ballycrystal and is entitled to be in the shake-up here.

The previously track-placed COSMIC BLIZZARD was only beaten by a length at Boulta on his return to the pointing fields in November, and he would have to hold leading claims for this on that effort alongside Redbridge Rocco who was placed at Tinahely last time. That Shircocco gelding had been running well around here on his debut 12 months ago before falling two-out, and so has shown a liking for this venue.

Sixhandsinmypocket also has placed track form to his name and he went close on his debut in this sphere at Tattersalls before Christmas, whilst Kings Cowboy is a solid type that has finished second in two of his three starts this season since joining the Colin Bowe stable, and he should not be too far away.

She got within three lengths of the reigning champion point-to-pointer Winged Leader at Tinahely last month in a career-best performance, and that is the standout piece of form coming into this. The Blind Piper failed to recapture his very best form last season following a significant absence, but he would have place claims alongside Ballinrea, who admittedly was disappointing last time.
